Mimos Bhd received the contract to revamp JobsMalaysia back in 2015 and the portal was supposed to be ready a year later. But according to the Human Resources Ministry, Mimos was unable to deliver the project as planned in 2016.
Launched in 2009, the portal provided lists of available jobs for those seeking employment. A decision was made in 2015 to enhance the portal’s capabilities to enable it to match jobs with job seekers’ skills.

JobsMalaysia’s objective is to implement the latest technology and algorithms to enhance its job matching capabilities to match portals such as JobStreet at no extra cost. In August 2018, the Ministry of Human Resources made it compulsory for employers to advertise job vacancies on the JobsMalaysia portal.
Finally launched in September 2018, JobsMalaysia 2.0 received positive reviews at first but technical problems occurred soon after on both the web and app versions.
One source said that the portal’s job-matching algorithm is not effective, as it did not accurately match a job seeker’s skills or qualifications with the right job. Users have given it a rating of 2.3 out of five on the Google Play Store. Many who tried the app on the Android platform have complained about not being able to log in despite multiple attempts.

Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran has also raised questions about Job Malaysia’s failure to achieve its goal despite the high cost incurred. He has also addressed the issue to the Labour Department. He now expects “more capable hands” to take over JobsMalaysia.
