Good news for employed persons with disabilities! Now, you can apply for the Disabled Workers Allowance (EPOKU). 

The government incentive was created under the Social Welfare Department. It seeks to encourage persons with disabilities to stay in the workforce while also allowing them to live independently and contribute to society.

 

What is the allowance rate for disabled workers?

The EPOKU provides RM450 each month per person.
 
 

Who is eligible for the allowance?

  • Malaysian citizens;

  • Aged 16 and above;

  • Disabled registered with the Department of Social Welfare (JKM);

  • Income not exceeding RM1,500 per month.

  • Any case in need is eligible to be considered with the approval of the Director-General of Social Welfare (KPKM).

The implementation of welfare assistance is in accordance with the Concurrent List between the Federal Government and the State Government, which is enshrined in the provisions of the Federal Constitution of Malaysia under the 3-ninth schedule of the Legislative List.

 

How to apply for EPOKU

  1. Each applicant must complete the Assistance Application Form (JKM 18)

  2. To facilitate administrative matters, applicants are required to bring supporting documents when attending the District / Colony / Division Social Welfare Office such as:

    1. Copy of the applicant's Identity Card

    2. Copy of Identity Card of husband/wife/mother/father/child living together

    3. Copies of birth certificates of children/family members living together

    4. Copy of salary statement (if any), and other relevant documents.

  3. The handling of financial assistance applications can be made at District / Divisional Social Welfare Offices throughout the country.

    1. Each registered application will be investigated for evaluation (means-tested) to confirm the eligibility for assistance to the applicant

    2. This matter is in accordance with the principle of delivery of assistance based on eligibility and not rights.
