As Ramadan approaches, many small traders and informal entrepreneurs prepare for higher demand. From food stalls and Ramadan bazaars to festive clothing and Raya essentials, this season often brings strong sales opportunities.

To support these business activities, Skim Biaya Ramadan Perniagaan Rakyat (BARAKAT) was introduced by TEKUN Nasional. The scheme offers short-term financing specifically for business activities during Ramadan and Aidilfitri. Applications for Skim BARAKAT begin on 1 February 2026.

If you are a small trader looking for extra capital to prepare for the festive season, here is everything you need to know.

What Is Skim BARAKAT

Skim BARAKAT is a special financing scheme created to help informal and micro entrepreneurs prepare for Ramadan business activities.

The programme is managed by TEKUN Nasional, a government agency that supports Bumiputera entrepreneurs with business financing.

This scheme focuses on helping traders who sell:

  • Food and drinks

  • Clothing and festive wear

  • Aidilfitri goods and related items

The financing can go up to RM30,000, depending on eligibility. Applications officially open on 1 February 2026.

About Skim Biaya Ramadan Perniagaan Rakyat (BARAKAT)

Skim BARAKAT is a special Ramadan financing initiative by TEKUN Nasional.

It is designed for:

  • Informal entrepreneurs

  • Micro entrepreneurs

You can apply whether you:

  • Have a business licence or SSM registration

  • Do not have a licence or SSM registration

The purpose of this scheme is to:

  • Reduce financial pressure during the festive season

  • Help traders manage short-term business needs

  • Provide capital for stock, supplies, and operating costs

Objective of the BARAKAT Scheme

The BARAKAT scheme aims to:

  • Help small traders prepare for higher Ramadan demand

  • Encourage better planning and more structured business operations

Many micro businesses operate on limited cash flow. Extra working capital during peak season can make a big difference in sales and profits.

Shariah Concept & Profit Rate

Skim BARAKAT uses the Tawarruq Shariah concept.

The profit rate charged is:

  • 3% per year

  • Calculated based on the financing amount

  • Applied throughout the financing tenure

This makes it a relatively affordable option for short-term seasonal financing.

Financing Amount Available

The financing amount depends on whether the applicant has a valid licence or SSM registration.

According to TEKUN’s official information:

For Entrepreneurs Without Licence / SSM

Financing between RM1,000 to RM5,000

For Entrepreneurs With Licence / SSM

Financing between RM1,000 to RM30,000
