Manufacturing sector companies and employers can now register for the Program Imunisasi Industri Covid-19 Kerjasama Awam-Swasta (Pikas) via online registration at http://pikas.miti.gov.my. This new method is the government's way of speeding up the vaccination programme in the industry.

Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) Datuk Lim Ban Hong stated that Pikas was well-received by companies. The programme had helped to boost the acceleration of vaccination rates for Malaysians.

He said that MITI had requested companies that submitted information through email before to enter their company information via the Pikas online system. This move is to ensure that the information is complete and to improve coordination and processing for Pikas.

In a statement today, the deputy minister said that Pikas plays a crucial role in giving confidence to manufacturing sector workers so they can feel safe in the workplace. According to him, Pikas is also a pragmatic move to increase companies' productivity as they adapt to living with the Covid-19 pandemic.

MITI is collaborating with the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) and the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) to redouble the efforts in increasing the number of existing Pikas PPVs. By increasing the number of Pikas PPVs, the government will improve the vaccination rate among manufacturing sector workers in Malaysia.

About Pikas

Launched on June 16, Pikas is a strategic collaboration between the private and public sectors focusing on expediting vaccination among manufacturing sector workers.

Through this programme, the government provides free vaccines while the private sector will fund and manage the PPVs. This move reduces the administrative cost of vaccination that has to be borne by the government.
