Under the "Malaysian Greening Programme: 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign", individuals will receive a 7% tax deduction while companies will get 10% of the total annual aggregate income. The tax deduction is based on Section 44 (11 C) of the Income Tax Act 1967.
Takiyuddin said that participants had planted about 23,746,874 trees via the programme, and 4,139 people have used the 'Penghijauan Malaysia' smartphone app as of November 22.
He added that aside from the application, everyone can also visit www.100jutapokok.gov.my to record tree planting data, including the private sector.
The 'Penghijauan Malaysia' operating system classifies data according to state, agency or individual grower and type of trees.
