The launch of SARA 2025 has created a lot of questions at the workplace. Employees want to know if their MyKad carries money, how to check their eligibility, and where to redeem the benefit. Employers play a key role here: by sharing accurate information, we can prevent rumours, help staff access their aid quickly, and protect them from misinformation.

Duit Dalam MyKad & SARA 2025 – Overview

“Duit dalam MyKad” does not mean there is actual money stored inside the card. For Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) 2025, MyKad is only used as a verification tool. When employees use their MyKad at participating stores, the system checks if they are eligible for the credit.

The SARA credit is not cash and cannot be withdrawn. It can only be used to buy approved items at registered outlets. Employers should remind employees of this to avoid confusion and to protect them from scams claiming that MyKad money can be “cashed out.”

Helping Employees Check SARA Eligibility

Employees can check their SARA 2025 eligibility starting 21 August 2025 through the official portal sara.gov.my.

Tips for employers:

  • Share the correct website link in company WhatsApp groups or bulletin boards.

  • Assist employees who may lack internet access by letting them check from a company computer or HR office.

Supporting Employees to Redeem SARA Aid

Redemption is open from 31 August to 31 December 2025. Employees can use their MyKad to purchase daily necessities at over 4,000 participating outlets nationwide under the MyKasih Foundation network.

Employers can:

  • Remind employees of the deadline to avoid unused credits.

  • Share lists of participating outlets (supermarkets, grocery chains, convenience stores). You can find the complete list in https://mykasih.com.my/mykasih-foundation/supporting-partners/

  • Encourage staff to use the benefit early for essentials like rice, cooking oil, eggs, and hygiene products.

- List of participating outlets (supermarkets/grocery chains under MyKasih).

Understanding the Amount of Aid

For SARA 2025, all Malaysians aged 18+ will receive RM100 one-off credit via MyKad. Recipients under eKasih/STR programmes will also receive monthly aid (RM50–RM200 depending on category).

Encourage employees to check their category so they don’t miss entitlements, especially those from B40 or hardcore poor households.

Touch ’n Go (TnG) Balance – How to Check & Top-Up

Employers should remind staff that the TnG balance in MyKad is separate from the SARA aid. SARA credits cannot be withdrawn as TnG money, and TnG top-ups do not increase SARA benefits.

How to Check TnG Balance

Employees can check their current TnG balance in several ways:

  1. TnG eWallet App

    • Download and open the app.

    • Select “TNG Card” → “Add New Card”.

    • Enter the MyKad serial number (MFG number) and user name.

    • Click “Submit” to view the balance.

  2. TnG Kiosk

    • Available in shopping malls and public transport stations.

    • Place MyKad on the scanner and the balance will appear on the screen.

  3. Petrol Stations or Convenience Store Machines

Many stations and stores (e.g., 7-Eleven) have reload machines that also display the balance.

Balance checks are free, whether done through the app, kiosks, or official machines.

How to Reload (Top-Up) TnG Balance

If the balance is low, employees can top up by:

At Petrol Stations/Convenience Stores

Reload at participating outlets such as 7-Eleven or petrol stations with TnG services.

Through the TnG eWallet App

Open the app, select “Reload”, and follow the instructions to add funds directly.

Employer Best Practices

Employers have a role in preventing misinformation at the workplace. Best practices include:

  • Share official updates from sara.gov.my or Ministry of Finance press releases.

  • Use internal channels to keep staff informed, such as bulletins, HR emails, and WhatsApp.

  • Remind staff to be cautious of scams, especially messages claiming MyKad money can be withdrawn at “special counters” or through third parties.

By guiding employees, employers reduce confusion, protect staff from fraud, and strengthen trust.

FAQs

Do employers apply on behalf of staff?

No. Eligibility is automatic based on MyKad records. Employers don’t need to register employees.

Can foreign workers claim SARA?

No. SARA 2025 is only for Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above.

What if an employee’s MyKad is damaged?

They must visit the National Registration Department (JPN) for a replacement before redemption.

Should employers track which employees redeemed the benefit?

Not necessary. This is a personal entitlement. Employers only need to provide guidance and prevent misinformation.
