Many employees may have questions about how to check their EPF balance, retrieve their EPF number, or access their account details.

With digital advancements, checking your KWSP balance has never been easier—you can now access your account details online, anytime, without visiting a branch.

For employers, you need to understand how to check this, not only for your own contributions but also for assisting employees with their retirement savings.

This guide provides clear and simple steps for employers to help their employees to check balance on KWSP accounts online, via mobile apps, and through other available methods.

Let’s get started!

Can I use the Employee's IC to see KWSP numbers online?

Yes, you can check your KWSP (EPF) number using your employee’s IC (MyKad) online.

However, this requires you to be a registered member of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and have access to i-Akaun.

If you haven't registered for i-Akaun, you can register to do so.

How do I check an employee’s EPF number with an IC online?

If you need to check your EPF number using your employee's IC, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the KWSP official website.

  2. Navigate to the i-Akaun login page.

  3. Enter your employee IC number and proceed with the instructions.

  4. If your account is registered, you will gain access to your EPF details, including your EPF number.

How to Check KWSP Balance Online Using i-Akaun

The easiest way to check your KWSP balance is through i-Akaun, an online portal provided by KWSP that allows members to access their EPF account details, check balances, and manage contributions conveniently.

Via Website:

Here's how you can check your EPF balance on the official EPF website:

  1. Go to the EPF website and log in as Employer.
  2. Choose your preferred language: Bahasa Melayu (BM) or English (EN).
  3. Select English, then enter your User ID and Password, and click Next.
  4. Make sure the Online Image and Secret Phrase shown are correct.
  5. Enter your Password again and click Login. Your EPF Account 1, Account 2, and KWSP Account 3 balances will then be displayed.

Via Mobile App:

If you're using the EPF i-Akaun mobile app, follow these steps to check your balance:

  1. If you haven't already, download the EPF i-Akaun app on your phone. (For Android: Playstore; For iPhone: AppStore)
  2. Open the i-Akaun app.
  3. Enter your User ID and Password.
  4. Verify that the Online Image and Secret Phrase are correct.
  5. Your EPF balance will appear on your screen.

How to See EPF Balance Without i-Akaun

Most employers find it easier to check their EPF balance online, but some older employers or those unfamiliar with the internet may prefer other methods.

To check without i-Akaun, simply visit an EPF office or kiosk, or call the EPF Contact Management Centre at 03-8922 6000 and follow the instructions to get the information you need.

Can I use the mobile app and AVRS to check my EPF number?

Yes! KWSP offers a mobile-friendly option through its i-Akaun app, available on both Android and iOS. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Download the KWSP i-Akaun app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

  2. Log in with your registered details.

  3. Navigate to ‘Account Details’ to find your EPF number.

Alternatively, you can call 03-8922 6000 and use the Automated Voice Response System (AVRS) to check your EPF details.

Where to See EPF Number on a Payslip

If you are currently employed, your EPF number is usually printed on your payslip.

Employers are required to deduct a portion of employees’ salaries for EPF contributions.

Look for a section labeled KWSP or EPF No. on your payslip.

Check EPF Numbers Through the EPF Call Center

Another quick way to retrieve your EPF number is by calling KWSP’s hotline at 03-8922 6000.

The call center operates from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Ensure you have your employee IC number ready for verification.

Check Your EPF Number at an EPF Branch

If you cannot retrieve your EPF number online or via phone, you can visit the nearest KWSP branch. You can tell your employees to bring IC (MyKad) for verification.

The staff will assist you in retrieving your EPF number and provide guidance on setting up your i-Akaun for easier access in the future.

Can I check EPF Number by SMS/WhatsApp?

Currently, KWSP does not provide an SMS/WhatsApp service to check EPF numbers.

There is no official confirmation if this service was ever available or if there are plans to introduce it in the future.

However, you can call their hotline at 03-8922 6000 for assistance.

If you receive any messages claiming to offer this service, be cautious, as it might be a scam.

Are KWSP and EPF the same thing?

Yes! KWSP (Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja) and EPF (Employees Provident Fund) refer to the same entity.

KWSP is the official name in Bahasa Malaysia, while EPF is the English equivalent.

Both terms are used interchangeably and serve the same function—helping Malaysian employees save for retirement.
