Johor SMEs Can Now Apply for Iskandar Malaysia Startup Grant

Small businessess can now apply for a grant organised by Iskandar Malaysia, namely the 'Iskandar Malaysia Startup Grant' program, also known as IMSTART. 

This grant is specifically for individual traders and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) operating in Johor to grow their businesses digitally.  

With an allocation of RM2,000,000, a total of 200 individuals and traders under the Small and Medium Business (SME) category will receive assistance benefits of up to RM10,000 for each business.

This assistance is in line with the mission of helping merchants grow their business, such as buying product stocks, upgrading operations and business systems, and creating their own e-commerce platform on par with Malaysia's leading products.

 

What is IMSTART?

Iskandar Malaysia StartUp Grant (IMSTART) is an initiative by the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) in the form of a 'one-off' grant with a maximum value of up to RM 10,000.

The grant assists micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) who conduct their business in the State of Johor and individuals seeking to start their business online.

The grant aims to alleviate the burden of starting an online business for entrepreneurs who want to start a business on an e-commerce platform and those operating since March 2020 to increase operating capacity.

Eligibility requirements

  1. Open to entrepreneurs and individuals who operate businesses in the state of Johor only.

  2. Open to all Malaysian citizens aged 18 - 45 years.

  3. New or existing online business since March 2020.

  4. New businesses need to be registered with SSM and e-commerce platforms.

  5. Shariah-compliant business activities.

  6. This grant is only for the purchase of product stocks, basic needs of e-commerce operating premises and digital equipment only (Purchase of Mobile Phones not included).

  7. The applicant must submit a quotation in the name of the applicant or company from a supplier not exceeding RM 10,000.00

  8. This assistance is only available to the earliest and most eligible 200 individuals or business owners

The total amount of assistance

A 'one-off' grant with a maximum value of up to RM 10,000.

 

Application deadline

The closing date for this grant application is 15 September 2021. Successful applications will receive a notification via email.
