Kimberley Ho, a 28-year-old Malaysian entrepreneur has been listed under the Forbes 30 under 30 for her accolades in developing a non-toxic skincare line for kids!

Kimberley co-founded Evereden which is based in the US. She was listed at number 17th under the retail and eCommerce category of Forbes’ 2019 edition of its 30 under 30 list.

According to Forbes, Kimberley was working on Wall Street as consumer brands investor when she realised that most skincare brands on the market contained toxins and harmful ingredients. She became obsessed with creating a new skincare line for babies.

Evereden was launched in March 2018. She reportedly received a US$2 million (RM8.39 million) offer for her products, which have received accolades from Bobbi Brown and Vogue.

But she eventually turned down the money. She said “There’s no such thing as a free lunch. With venture capitalists funding, strings always come attached.”

Kimberley Ho turned down the offer with the hope that she could lead her company on her own terms.

Kimberley enlisted the help of paediatricians and scientists from Stanford and Harvard to create a product that uses ingredients that are usually found in women’s luxury skincare products.

Kimberley moved to the US when she was 18 to study economics at Stanford University. After graduating, she then worked for the investment banking firm, Goldman Sachs before moving on as an investor at Oaktree Capital.

She told Forbes that she used to purchase baby products from the US for her friends in Asia while working there.

But that’s where she realised that the ingredients in baby products from the US weren’t as safe as they claimed to be.

Kimberley then decided to quit her job and started Evereden, with her husband.

When asked about what advice she would give to the millennial wanting change careers, she said “Think about what you’re most passionate about and why; this is the thing that will keep you going when you’re running on empty.

Consider your core skills, and how you can build upon what you already know to do something (or learn something!) entirely new. Finally, work your network; even if you set out on a new path, existing relationships are invaluable.”
