The MyKasih programme is one of Malaysia’s key initiatives to support lower-income families. Linked to government aid like Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), it uses MyKad as a secure tool to deliver monthly food credits and essential support.

This article will share the details of the MyKasih programme and how employers can help employees utilize this programme to fulfill daily essential needs.

What is MyKasih?

The MyKasih programme is a cashless aid distribution system in Malaysia designed to support lower-income households. It is managed by the MyKasih Foundation, a local NGO founded in 2009, and works closely with the government to deliver assistance.

Through MyKasih, aid such as the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA 2025) is distributed directly using the recipient’s MyKad. Instead of cash, the aid is credited digitally and can be used at participating shops to buy approved essential items. This ensures that the support goes straight to daily needs such as food, hygiene products, and medicine.

Who is Eligible for MyKasih?

The MyKasih programme is designed mainly for the B40 group and other vulnerable categories. Eligibility is matched automatically through the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) database and the eKasih system.

Categories of Recipients

Households (STR & eKasih)

Families listed in both STR and eKasih are entitled to aid of up to RM2,100 a year. They receive RM100 per month from January to March, and RM200 per month from April to December.

Senior Citizens without Partners (STR & eKasih)

Elderly individuals without a spouse, listed under STR and eKasih, can receive up to RM1,650 a year. They get RM100 per month from January to March, and RM150 per month from April to December.

Single Individuals (STR & eKasih)

Eligible singles aged 21 to 59 years receive RM600 a year, with RM50 credited every month from January to December.

Households (STR only)

Families that qualify under STR but are not listed in eKasih. They receive RM100 per month from April to December, totalling RM900 for the year.

Senior Citizens without Partners (STR only)

Elderly individuals under STR but not listed in eKasih. They receive RM50 per month from April to December, totalling RM450 for the year.

How to Apply / Register for MyKasih

Most recipients of MyKasih do not need to submit a new application, because eligibility is usually determined automatically through government databases such as STR (Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah) and eKasih. However, employees and families can still check their status and confirm if they are listed as beneficiaries.

Application Process

Step-by-Step

  1. Go to the MyKasih portal: https://app.mykasih.net/sara2/checkstatus.

  2. Click “Semak Status”.

  1. Enter your MyKad number (without dashes).

  2. Fill in the captcha code for verification.

  3. Click “Semak Status” to view eligibility and balance.

Recipients can also log in and verify their aid status through the Bantuan Tunai Hasil portal at https://bantuantunai.hasil.gov.my/Account/Login.

Documents Required

In most cases, no documents are needed because information is drawn from official government records. But in special cases, recipients may be asked to provide supporting documents such as:

  • Proof of address (utility bill, tenancy agreement, etc.).

  • Family information (marriage certificate, children’s birth certificates).

  • Income details, if clarification is required.

Employers can play a supporting role by guiding employees through the portal and ensuring they prepare any necessary documents if requested.

MyKasih Login & Account Access

To access their account, recipients must log in using their MyKad number through the official portal. The system is connected directly to government databases, so it is important that employees keep their MyKad details updated.

How to Log In via MyKasih App

Employees can also access MyKasih through the mobile app available on both the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).

  1. Download the MyKasih app from the App Store or Google Play.

  2. Open the app and click Next to skip the introduction screens.

  3. Enter your MyKad number (NRIC) and your mobile phone number.

  4. Tick the box to confirm “I have read and agreed to the terms & conditions.”

  5. Click “Next” to continue.

  6. The system will send a One-Time Password (OTP) to your registered mobile number.

  7. Enter the OTP code and click “Next”.

  8. Once verified, you will successfully log in and can see your remaining balance and the option to use your MyKasih account to pay for essential goods at participating shops.

Common Login Issues & Troubleshooting

  • Wrong NRIC Format

Solution: Always key in without dashes.

  • System Downtime

Solution: The portal may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance. Try again later.

  • Outdated Records

Solution: If details are missing or incorrect, employees may need to update their information in the STR or eKasih database.

Importance of Keeping MyKad Updated

Because the system relies on MyKad information, it is crucial to:

  • Ensure personal details (name, address, marital status) are up to date.

  • Replace damaged or unreadable cards at JPN to avoid login errors.

  • Keep records current in STR and eKasih to ensure uninterrupted aid access.

MyKasih Assistance & Benefits for Employees
