If you’re planning to register a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) in Malaysia, the myLLP portal by SSM is where you’ll start.

It’s an online system that helps employers, business owners, and compliance officers handle LLP registration, updates, and filings without stepping into an SSM office.

Let’s read the details of myLLP and how to use it below!

What is MyLLP?

MyLLP is an online system provided by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).

It is created to help business owners register and manage their Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs).

Instead of visiting an SSM office, you can do almost everything online through the MyLLP portal at www.ssm4u.com.my.

LLP is a business structure that combines features of a company and a traditional partnership.

It gives protection to the partners by limiting personal liability, while still keeping flexibility in how the business is managed.

The MyLLP portal helps streamline the entire LLP process from registration to annual declarations and even winding up, all accessible 24/7.

Benefits of Using MyLLP for Employers and Business Owners

One of the biggest advantages of MyLLP is convenience. You no longer need to queue up at the SSM counter.

Whether it’s registering a new LLP, changing details, or filing annual declarations, everything can be done online.

It also saves costs. LLPs are usually more affordable to register and maintain compared to a Sendirian Berhad (Sdn Bhd).

Plus, for small LLPs with revenue below a certain threshold, there’s no need for an audit.

For employers and business owners, MyLLP gives you:

  • 24/7 access to manage your LLP.

  • A faster way to keep your business legally compliant.

  • Clear steps to appoint or remove partners.

  • A cost-effective option, especially for startups or professional firms.

Who Should Use MyLLP?

MyLLP is suitable for anyone managing or planning to start an LLP. This includes:

  • Business owners who prefer a flexible business structure with limited liability.

  • HR or finance teams who are handling compliance, annual declarations, or partner updates.

  • Startups, law firms, accounting firms, or any professional services that want to register as an LLP.

How to Register an LLP through MyLLP

Registering your business as a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) through the MyLLP system is straightforward if you know what to prepare.

Read the step-by-step explanation below to guide you through the registration process.

1. Prepare Before You Start

Before logging into MyLLP, gather the following information:

  • Three proposed LLP names in case your first choice is unavailable.

  • Nature of your business (a clear explanation of what your LLP will do).

  • Registered office address and business address.

  • Full details of all partners (name, MyKad/Passport No., address, email).

  • Details of the Compliance Officer (must be a Malaysian citizen or PR, aged 18 and above, residing in Malaysia).

2. Register as a User on MyLLP

Visit the SSM4U portal at www.ssm4u.com.my and register yourself as a user. This user profile will be used to handle the LLP registration.

3. Reserve Your LLP Name

Once logged in, submit a name reservation application. It costs RM50 per name.

You can submit up to three name choices. The name will be reserved for 30 days upon approval.

You can only proceed with registration once the name is approved.

4. Fill Out the Registration Form

After your name is approved, fill out the LLP registration form online. You will need to include:

  • The approved LLP name
  • Details of all partners
  • Registered business address
  • Nature of business
  • Appointment of a Compliance Officer

5. Appoint a Compliance Officer

Every LLP must appoint one Compliance Officer. This person is responsible for filing the LLP’s documents and declarations.

They can be one of the partners or another qualified individual.

The Compliance Officer must:

  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of Malaysia
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Live in Malaysia

6. Submit Documents and Payment

Once everything is completed and confirmed, you must submit the application and pay the registration fee. The fee is RM500 and is paid online during submission.

7. Receive Confirmation

If your application is successful, SSM will issue a Notice of Registration. This acts as proof that your LLP is legally registered.

You can also download your Certificate of Registration through the MyLLP portal for RM20.

How to Maintain Your LLP Using MyLLP

Keeping your LLP active means staying compliant. So, what can you do through MyLLP?

  • Update business info, such as your address and the nature of your business.
  • Add or remove partners
  • File an annual declaration. Every LLP must submit an annual declaration under Section 68 of the LLP Act 2012. This confirms that your LLP is still active and compliant.

Other services include applying for a change of LLP name, winding up applications, or applying for an extension of time if you can’t meet a deadline.
