Hire NowSenior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that six districts in Selangor are under the Movement Control Order (MCO) from May 6 until May 17.
The districts are:
- Hulu Langat,
- Petaling,
- Gombak,
- Klang,
- Kuala Langat, and
- Sepang.
The Defence Minister said that the three other Selangor districts would stay under conditional MCO (CMCO):
- Kuala Selangor,
- Sabak Bernam, and
- Hulu Selangor.
Ismail said the government made the decision due to an increase in Covid-19 cases in Selangor since April 20 to date. Lately, Selangor has been the state with the highest amount of cases in Malaysia, at times crossing the 1,000 cases mark.
The new MCO in these districts is scheduled to end on May 17.
These are a few conditions of the latest MCO:
-
Inter-district and interstate travel in those six districts under MCO are NOT ALLOWED, except for emergency reasons.
-
Food premises, including food trucks, hawkers, restaurants, and kiosks, are ALLOWED to operate from 6 am until 12 am.
-
Dine-in is NOT ALLOWED.
-
Convenience stores, sundry shops, and convenience stores are ALLOWED to operate from 6 am until 10 pm.
-
Daily markets, farmer markets, wet markets and weekend markets are ALLOWED to operate from 6 am to 2 pm.
-
Petrol stations can operate from 6 am until 10 pm, except for those on the highway that are allowed to operate for 24 hours.
-
Hospitals, clinics and medical labs will run as usual.
-
Ramadan Bazaars will no longer be allowed to operate from 8 May.
-
The International Trade and Industry Ministry said companies in six districts in Selangor that are under the MCO 3.0 are allowed to have 30% of management staff present at the workplace.
Crossing districts
The minister also said the police handling the roadblocks have the power to arrest those who crossed districts. Those who plan to cross states for emergencies with the police's permission are allowed to do so.
Ismail said that tourism could continue in CMCO areas as long it did not involve district border crossing.
However, the police would only issue permits based on the validity of the reasons provided. Ismail said that there are thousands of applications to cross states on weekends, and the police would have to consider them properly.
