Attention to Muslim employees in Malaysia preparing to perform Hajj: Starting January 1, 2026, the Employees Provident Fund (KWSP) will offer a special withdrawal facility called Pengeluaran Haji KWSP, with the maximum withdrawal amount increased to RM10,000.

This new information is very useful for employees who are planning financially for Hajj. Employers and HR teams will also be equipped to provide accurate answers to any questions employees may have regarding EPF withdrawals and leave planning.

Here is a complete guide to help you understand how Pengeluaran KWSP untuk Haji works in 2026.

What Is Pengeluaran Haji KWSP?

Pengeluaran Haji KWSP is a special EPF withdrawal facility that allows Muslim members to withdraw part of their savings to perform Hajj. The withdrawal is taken from Akaun Sejahtera (Account 2).

The purpose is to help members:

  • Top up their savings in Tabung Haji (TH)

  • Meet the minimum Hajj payment requirement set by Tabung Haji

Key Update for 2026

As mentioned in before, starting 1 January 2026:

  • Maximum withdrawal is up to RM10,000

  • Or the available balance in Akaun Sejahtera, whichever is lower

  • Members no longer need to submit their Tabung Haji balance statement

Previously, the limit was RM3,000. The increase to RM10,000 provides more flexibility for members who need additional funds for Hajj preparation.

Who Can Apply?

To apply for Pengeluaran Haji KWSP, members must meet the following requirements:

  • Malaysian citizen

  • Muslim EPF member

  • Below 55 years old

  • Officially selected to perform Hajj by Lembaga Tabung Haji

  • Have never applied for Pengeluaran Haji before

Members must have a valid Hajj offer letter from Tabung Haji with the status “Selected”.

How to Apply for Pengeluaran Haji KWSP

At the moment, the application must be done in person at a KWSP branch. There is no online application option.

Step 1: Prepare Documents

Bring the Original MyKad and Hajj offer letter from Tabung Haji (status: “Selected”).

Step 2: Visit a KWSP Branch

Go to any KWSP branch with your documents.

Members do not need to fill in any form. At the counter, you will place your thumbprint on the “Notis Pengesahan Permohonan Pengeluaran” as confirmation of your withdrawal application.

You will complete fingerprint verification at the KWSP counter to confirm your identity and application.

Step 4: Receive Payment

Once approved, the money will be credited directly into your registered bank account. Processing time is within 7 working days after receipt by KWSP

How to Check Application & Payment Status

Members can check their application and payment status through:

What Happens If Hajj Is Postponed or Cancelled?

If the Hajj trip is postponed or canceled after you’ve withdrawn money, you must pay back the full amount to KWSP. In the event of the member’s death after the withdrawal, there is no need to repay it. The heirs should reach out to Tabung Haji for more instructions.

Things Employees Should Know

Before applying for pengeluaran KWSP untuk haji, employees should understand that:

  • The withdrawal reduces savings in Akaun Sejahtera

  • Lower EPF savings may affect retirement funds

  • The facility is intended to support Hajj expenses

  • Members should plan their long-term retirement savings after making the withdrawal

While Hajj is an important religious obligation, financial planning remains essential.

Why This Matters for Employers & HR

From an HR perspective, this topic may come up during Hajj leave planning, employee benefit discussions, and general EPF-related enquiries.

Some of the common questions from employees will revolve around eligibility requirements, application steps, and how it affects EPF savings.

HR teams are not required to give financial advice. However, basic awareness allows HR to:

  • Share accurate information

  • Direct employees to official KWSP channels

  • Support workforce planning during the Hajj period
