CIVac began accepting registrations on July 12, and as of now, all slots in Johor have been fully booked. However, CIVac is still open for registrations in Penang, with 22,800 slots filled so far. The vaccination date for both states will begin on August 5 until September 15 2021.
CIVac will also expand to other areas. Registrations will open in Pahang starting July 25 with 20,000 slots for construction workers. Meanwhile, Registration for CIVac in Sabah will begin on July 31, with 20,000 slots available.
Phase 1 of CIVac
The first phase of CIVac began on July 1 in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, targetting 40,000 local and foreign construction sector workers for Covid-19 vaccination. As of July 20, 24,106 workers or 60.26% of the total number of registered workers have received the first dose of the vaccine.
The KKR has requested additional vaccine allocation from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) for 300,000 construction workers to meet the growing demand. The request also includes extra vaccines for 65,000 construction workers in Kuala Lumpur and 30,000 in Selangor.
The increase in vaccine quota will continue to be applied based on current demand by the construction industry. The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) will also provide a mobile Vaccination Center (PPV) if there is a demand for the facility.
The second phase of CIVac covers Penang and Johor.
