
PM Anwar Announces 50% Toll Discount for Raya - Starts March 18 2026

Hire NowPrime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced a 50% toll discount nationwide in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, giving some relief to Malaysians planning their balik kampung trips.
The toll discount will run for two days, starting from 12:01am on March 18 until 11:59pm on March 19, 2026.

50% Toll Discount for Balik Kampung Travel
The initiative will cost the government around RM21.03 million, which will be paid as compensation to toll concessionaires.

This move is meant to help ease travel costs during the musim perayaan, especially for families travelling long distances.
4,000 People to Be Released from Bankruptcy
In another announcement, Anwar said the government will fast-track bankruptcy discharge for 4,000 individuals, especially golongan rentan like single mothers and fathers.
This effort, handled by the Insolvency Department, aims to give them a fresh start before Syawal.
More Bantuan for Rakyat
Besides the toll discount, the government has rolled out several bantuan measures to support the rakyat during this festive period:

Early payout of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) Phase 2, involving RM1.3 billion for 5.2 million recipients

Special financial assistance for civil servants, retirees, veterans, and religious workers like imam, bilal, and KAFA teachers

Skim Harga Maksimum Musim Perayaan from March 14 to March 28 to control prices

Around 1,900 Jualan Rahmah programmes nationwide for cheaper essentials

Expansion of RM400 FLYsiswa subsidy so more students can balik kampung

Despite all the support, Anwar reminded Malaysians to urus kewangan dengan baik during the festive season.
“I urge Malaysians to spend wisely as they celebrate Aidilfitri. With global economic uncertainty, we must stay disciplined in managing finances,” he said.

With heavy traffic expected across highways, this 50% toll discount comes at the right time to support smoother and more affordable balik kampung journeys.
