50% Toll Discount for Balik Kampung Travel

The initiative will cost the government around RM21.03 million, which will be paid as compensation to toll concessionaires.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Applies to Class 1 private vehicles only

  • Covers all highways nationwide

  • Excludes border tolls, such as:

    • Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI), Johor

    • Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza (Second Link)

This move is meant to help ease travel costs during the musim perayaan, especially for families travelling long distances.

4,000 People to Be Released from Bankruptcy

In another announcement, Anwar said the government will fast-track bankruptcy discharge for 4,000 individuals, especially golongan rentan like single mothers and fathers.

This effort, handled by the Insolvency Department, aims to give them a fresh start before Syawal.

More Bantuan for Rakyat

Besides the toll discount, the government has rolled out several bantuan measures to support the rakyat during this festive period:

  • Early payout of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) Phase 2, involving RM1.3 billion for 5.2 million recipients

  • Special financial assistance for civil servants, retirees, veterans, and religious workers like imam, bilal, and KAFA teachers

  • Skim Harga Maksimum Musim Perayaan from March 14 to March 28 to control prices

  • Around 1,900 Jualan Rahmah programmes nationwide for cheaper essentials

  • Expansion of RM400 FLYsiswa subsidy so more students can balik kampung

Spend Wisely This Raya

Despite all the support, Anwar reminded Malaysians to urus kewangan dengan baik during the festive season.

“I urge Malaysians to spend wisely as they celebrate Aidilfitri. With global economic uncertainty, we must stay disciplined in managing finances,” he said.

Making Raya Travel More Affordable

With heavy traffic expected across highways, this 50% toll discount comes at the right time to support smoother and more affordable balik kampung journeys.

Overall, the initiative reflects the government’s continued effort to ease the kos sara hidup and help Malaysians celebrate Raya with more peace of mind.
