Hire NowPrime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced a 5th economic stimulus package (PERMAI) amounting to RM15 billion to help Malaysians cope with the second impact of COVID-19. As most of Malaysia enters the second week of strict movement curbs, this special announcement it what the people are anticipating.
To safeguard the rakyat's welfare, the prime minister stated various initiatives were included under Permai to support those afflicted by the MCO – particularly the vulnerable groups and informal workers dependent on daily wages. You can read a summary of PERMAI Assistance Package here.
Muhyiddin said the Government will extend the Prihatin Special Grant Plus assistance to include 500,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in states under the MCO with a payment of RM1,000 each. 300,000 SMEs in other states will receive RM500 each.
To help with the cash flow of micro-enterprises and SMEs, the Government will expedite the implementation of micro-credit schemes previously announced.
The implementation of RM1 billion micro-credit facilities includes soft loans amounting to RM390 million by Bank Simpanan Nasional, RM350 million by Agrobank and RM295 million by the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (Tekun).
The Permai Special Prihatin Grant is among various assistance provided in the Permai assistance package.
Summary
The Government will extend the current Prihatin Special Grant Plus assistance to include 500,000 SMEs in the MCO states, with a payment of RM1,000 each while 300,000 SMEs in other states will receive RM500 each.
This expansion will involve an additional allocation of RM650 million. Should any state be declared a red zone with MCO imposed, the Government stands ready with further assistance.

The Prihatin Special Grant Plus is a one-off additional financial assistance provided by the Government to micro SMEs that have previously received GKP 1.0 and GKP 2.0 assistance.

1. Who is eligible to receive Prihatin Special Grant Plus?
The Prihatin Special Grant Plus will be given to GKP 1.0 and GKP 2.0 recipients as well as those who applied for an appeal.
2. How much is the value of Prihatin Special Grant Plus assistance?
The total value of Prihatin Special Grant Plus assistance is RM 1,000 one-off for SMEs in MCO states. Those who are not in MCO states will receive RM 500 one-off.
3. How to apply for Prihatin Special Grant Plus?
You do not need to apply for Prihatin Special Grant Plus as this time around the assistance will use the data from the previous GKP 1.0 and 2.0. If you have received GKP 1.0 and/or 2.0 before, you will not need to apply. For more information, go to https://gkp.hasil.gov.my/
4. When will the Prihatin Special Grant Plus payment be made?
The payment date will be in March 2021.
5. How is the Prihatin Special Grant Plus payment method implemented?
Payment will be credited to the applicant's personal bank account registered for GKP application. The bank account must be active.
