SARA 2026 is designed to help Malaysians manage daily living costs. However, the assistance can only be used at selected stores and for approved essential items. This is where kedai MyKasih plays an important role.

Through the programme managed by Yayasan MyKasih, eligible recipients can use their SARA balance directly through MyKad at registered supermarkets, mini markets, and grocery stores nationwide.

In 2026, the network of kedai MyKasih continues to expand across Semenanjung Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan, making it easier for recipients to shop near their homes. The number of participating stores is expected to reach around 10,000 nationwide by the end of 2026.

Latest Updates on SARA & MyKasih 2026

Several important updates were announced for SARA and MyKasih in 2026. Monthly SARA payments began on 9 January 2026 and cover:

Households
Senior citizens without a spouse
Single individuals (starting 16 January 2026)

In addition, the government introduced a one-off RM100 SARA for All, which was credited on 9 February 2026 to all Malaysians aged 18 and above.

All SARA payments, whether monthly or one-off, are:

Credited into MyKad
Not paid into bank accounts
Not withdrawable as cash

Eligibility for SARA / MyKasih

Eligibility for using SARA at kedai MyKasih is determined automatically based on government records.

You may be eligible if you are:

A Malaysian citizen
An approved STR recipient
Listed under eKasih (Miskin or Miskin Tegar)

You don't need to re-apply and do manual registration for MyKasih stores. Your status can be checked through the MyKasih portal and the STR portal.

Once you are eligible, you can use SARA at any registered MyKasih store nationwide.

SARA 2026 Assistance Amount

The amount of SARA credited depends on your category:

Payment Dates for SARA 2026

SARA payments are credited automatically according to a fixed schedule, so recipients do not need to take any action to receive them.

For 2026:

Monthly SARA payments started from 9 January 2026
Single individuals began receiving SARA from 16 January 2026
The one-off RM100 SARA for All was credited on 9 February 2026

Once credited, the balance can be used at any time during the year. Any unused balance:

Carries forward to the following months
Remains valid until 31 December 2026
Will expire automatically after that date

Where SARA Can Be Used (MyKasih Stores)

SARA can only be used at registered MyKasih partner stores, commonly known as MyKasih stores. These are officially approved outlets that accept MyKad-based SARA payments.

In 2026, SARA can be used at a wide range of participating stores across Malaysia, including:

Large supermarket chains
Mini markets
Local grocery shops and independent retailers

Recipients are not restricted by location. You can use SARA at any participating MyKasih store nationwide, including in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan, even if the store is outside your residential area.

The SARA 2026 programme has an extensive merchant network, with more than 8,400 registered stores and supermarkets nationwide, and this number is expected to grow to 10,000 participating outlets throughout the year.

Recipients only need to bring their MyKad when purchasing essential goods. Major participating store groups include:
