This year, all taxpayers are required to submit their tax return forms exclusively via e-Filing, as manual and paper-based submissions are no longer accepted.
The move towards a fully digital tax filing system aims to streamline the process, reduce paperwork, and minimize errors in tax reporting.
Taxpayers can access the e-Filing system through the MyTax portal (https://mytax.hasil.gov.my) or the official IRB website (https://www.hasil.gov.my).

Taxpayers who fail to submit their tax returns before the deadline may face legal action under Subsection 112(1) of the Income Tax Act 1967, with penalties ranging from RM200 to RM20,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both.
Key Changes in 2024 Tax Filing
1. Mandatory e-Filing for All Taxpayers
All tax return submissions must be done online via MyTax.
Paper-based forms and in-person submissions at IRB branches are no longer accepted.
2. Auto-Generated Tax Return for Eligible Taxpayers
The IRB has introduced auto-generated tax returns for certain taxpayers who receive employment income only.
Eligible taxpayers will receive an e-Notification in MyTax, which requires review and confirmation before submission.
3. New Tax Reliefs for 2024
Additional reliefs have been introduced for EV charging equipment, gig economy workers, and mental health treatments.
