Two months left to apply for Malaysia's JaminKerja 2.0 (employment incentives)

The Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has extended the Job Guarantee Programme Incentive – Employment Incentive (Job Guarantee Programme 2.0) through December 31, 2022.

Under this program, employees recently offered employment will receive a one-time mobility assistance payment of RM500. With the extension, financial incentives for employers who hire new employees beginning on January 1, 2022, will be extended to December 31, 2022.

This incentive program is reserved for employers who hire new workers in the tourism industry, women, replacements for foreign workers and trade officers, and vulnerable groups, including the disabled.

For instance, eligible women, such as single mothers and housewives who are not actively employed, will be eligible for an incentive rate of 30% of the employee's income for the first one to six months. A minimum salary of RM1,500 and a minimum contract length of 12 months are required.

In a Facebook post, MITI underlines its support for government measures through institutions under the Ministry that are "proactive in channelling help and implementing initiatives that aim to safeguard the welfare of the people, maintain business continuity, and promote the national economy."
