It pays to be prepared, so here are the dates HR and employees should pay attention to:
Long weekends in 2023
Next year, there will be 7 long weekends. However, please note that some of these long weekends will not apply to certain states:

New Year's Day: 31 December (Saturday) to 2 January (Monday).
*Does not apply to Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Johor. -
Chinese New Year: Saturday to Tuesday, 21 (Saturday) to 24 January (Tuesday).
*The replacement holiday on 24 January does not apply to Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Johor. -
Hari Raya Aidilfitri: 22 (Saturday) to 24 April (Monday).

Labour Day: 29 April (Saturday) to 1 May (Monday).

Agong's Birthday: 3 (Saturday) to 5 June (Monday).

Deepavali: 11 (Saturday) to 13 November (Monday).
*Does not apply to Sarawak. -
Christmas: 23 (Saturday) to 25 December (Monday).
Long weekends + Annual leaves
Wise employees would plan ahead and use their annual leaves on these dates to get long weekends:
1. Wesak Day: 4 May (Thursday) to 7 May (Sunday)

2. Hari Raya Haji: 29 June (Thursday) to 2 July (Sunday)
