It may be challenging to stay awake at work, mainly when working late or after a satisfying lunch. Even though feeling weary at work is common, it could affect productivity and performance.

While many people drink coffee to keep active at work, only some find it compelling. We have provided tips to help you say goodbye to laziness and keep moving throughout your workday.

#1 A cup of coffee

If you're feeling drained at work, a cup of coffee can be just what you need to jumpstart your energy levels. Caffeine stimulates the nerve system and brain because it is a stimulant. Visit the break room or travel a short distance to a neighbouring café for a coffee. But be cautious when drinking coffee. Consuming too much caffeine may result in extreme jitteriness and overstimulation, which could have the opposite impact and lower productivity.

#2 Take a break

You could feel exhausted after spending a lot of time sitting at a desk. Being active may help you feel more awake and improve your mental clarity. Get up and move around every couple of hours if you can. For instance, try taking that call while strolling around your office. Consider performing quick exercises at your desk as well.

#3 Take a power nap

A short power nap can help you feel more energized and improve your thinking ability. After lunch or whenever you feel a little under the weather, you can take a nap.

#4 Listen to vibrant music

It could be frustrating to have to work in silence. You might feel as if you are going to fall asleep. To stimulate your brain, listen to upbeat music.

Confirm with your employer beforehand to get authorization. Your boss might be cool with you listening to music if it doesn't distract you from your task. If you cannot turn on the radio, ask permission to listen to music through headphones; the more lively the music, the better.

#5 Keep your workspace bright

If you're fortunate enough to work in a space with windows, open the blinds and let natural light in. The presence of sunlight in your workspace might increase your alertness and vitality. If there are no windows surrounding your office, obtain permission to bring a lightbox and place it near your desk. This emits low UV light and helps maintain your waking cycle, reducing fatigue.

#6 Splash water

If you're having difficulty staying awake at work, use the restroom and sprinkle cold water on your face. Using this quick and simple trick, you can regain energy and receive a much-needed boost.

#7 Stretch

If getting up and moving about is not possible, stretching at your desk or job may be beneficial. Simple exercises can assist in loosening up tight muscles, keeping the blood circulating, and maintaining a healthy physique.
