There are several ways to apply for jobs in the modern world, including in person, through job-search websites like LinkedIn and MauKerja, and on the official website of the employer. Despite this, many recruiters still demand job searchers email their applications and documentation, so emailing resumes remains relevant.

The email's content, which the recruiter will view and read when you submit your resume, is crucial. That may determine if your resume is reviewed. You want everything to be great, including the subject line, greetings, email content, sign-offs, and your resume. Therefore, considering what to include in an email when sending a resume is still a good idea.

Subject Line

One of the very first things recruiters will look at when deciding whether to open your message is the subject line. What should I include in the subject line when sending a resume? You might be wondering. The subject of the communication and its goal should both be expressly stated. The format for your subject line when mailing your resume is [Job Position - Your Name].

Greetings

There are many ways to greet someone, so you might wonder, "What's a suitable greeting to use while submitting a resume?" Before answering that question, you need to know who and in which department you are emailing.

When writing a mail to someone, use the following format once you know their name. Dear [Hiring Manager's name],

Self-introduction

Start your introduction by introducing yourself and, more importantly, what you are looking for. In any case, a concise summary of your application should be included in your email's opening statement(s). Here is some example:

  • "My name is Ali Abu Bakar, and I am interested in the job vacancy at Kacey Legacy. Attached to this email are all the documents requested in the listing."
  • "I am submitting my application for the current job opening as Financial Analyst at your company. Kindly refer to the attached documents."
  • "My name is Jason Chan, and I have attached my resume and cover letter for the Marketing Specialist position."

Reason for applying

Your second paragraph should highlight your qualifications, why you are interested in working for them, and why this organisation stood out in your job search after the salutation and introduction.

  • Accomplishments
  • Relevant work experience
  • Qualifications directly related to the job description's requirements

Stay detailed! In contrast to your cover letter or resume, what you need to state here should be succinct. Attempt to limit your word usage before sending that email. Think carefully about which accomplishments will interest recruiters and be relevant. When you give HR your resume, this will make formatting your email easier.

Remember these things!

  1. Cover letter: When applying for a job by email, consider including a condensed version of your cover letter in the email body if you choose to include your resume. Thus, the hiring manager can quickly assess your skills and qualities and can be persuaded to carefully go over the resume that is attached to the email.
  2. Professional-looking email address: While the "what" of mailing a resume in the mail is crucial, your email address is the "who." Using your first and last name as your email address is safe.
  3. File format: Ensure your resume is formatted correctly before sending it to HR with the email that includes an attachment. While some employers mention the file format they prefer, sending your resume in PDF format is always best if there is no such need or instruction.
  4. Proofread: When preparing to send out your resume for job applications, thoroughly review your mail, including the subject line, the email text, and your sign-offs, as well as its format, for any errors.
  5. Add related links: Include a link to highlight your abilities and work. Although it's crucial to know what to say when emailing a resume, recruiters are more likely to look at your application if you have a polished and appealing portfolio.
