Yesterday, the government launched the compliance operation called Ops Patuh on a large scale to focus on industrial areas across the country.

In this operation, the government is mobilising the workforce of all agencies under 21 ministries to ensure compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP). It is also using the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) assets such as helicopters and drones.

Kuala Lumpur

In Kuala Lumpur, Brickfields District Police chief ACP Anuar Omar stated that the police had issued four compounds to company owners. Among the violations they have committed are:

  • Not ensuring worker capacity based on SOP,

  • Proper social distancing,

  • Operating even though the manufacturing sector is forbidden to do so,

  • Failed to run Covid-19 screening tests on their foreign workers.

Kelantan

In Kelantan, the Ops Patuh concentrated on factories in Kota Baru, Gua Musang, Machang and Tanah Merah. The operation involved 900 enforcement personnel from several agencies.

Kelantan Police deputy chief SAC Abdullah Muhammad Piah stated they would conduct large-scale inspections on factories and manufacturers known to have a large number of workers.

The state's police chief Datuk Abdul Majid Mohd Ali, stated among the offences the factories had committed include:

According to him, the operation focused on the factories, and the authorities are satisfied with the employers' compliance level. More than 80% of the premises complied with the stipulated SOP.

The authorities also warned some employers who continued to defy the SOP, such as not providing these items at the premises:

  • The MySejahtera QR Code,

  • Temperature scanners, and

  • Exit and entry direction markers.

Kedah

In Alor Setar, Kedah police gave 16 compound notices to employers for multiple offences under the operation after inspecting 299 factories.
