Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysia's newly elected prime minister, has announced November 28 as a public holiday in recognition of the support the rakyat gave him and his party in the recent general election.
Five days after the ballots voting on November 19, The Agong has finally appointed Anwar, a member of the coalition-led Pakatan Harapan, as the country's tenth prime minister following a stalemate between significant parties.
Below is a sample memo of the Malaysia General Election Public Holiday by the Malaysia HR Forum.

Re: Voting During General Election
Dear Employees,
Please be informed that the Government has declared Monday, 28 November 2022, as a public holiday for the successful completion of the General Election.
Employees not scheduled to work shall observe the public holiday on 28 November 2022.
The below shall apply to employees scheduled to work on the date mentioned above.
Employees outside the scope of the EA 1955
Employees who are required to work shall be granted one (1) day of replacement leave for each day worked.
Employees under the scope of the EA 1955
If the public holiday falls on a workday/off day:
- Employees required to work shall be entitled to the public holiday rate stipulated in Employment Act 1955.
If the public holiday falls on a rest day:
- Employees required to work shall be eligible for a replacement public holiday on (date) or a date to be announced later by the company.
- Employees who are not scheduled to work shall be eligible for a replacement public holiday on (date) or a date to be announced later by the company.
