Hire NowIf you're self-employed in Malaysia, your income depends on your ability to work. Whether you're a freelancer, gig worker, e-hailing driver, food delivery rider, online seller, or micro entrepreneur, a work-related accident or occupational disease could affect your livelihood and financial stability.
To help protect self-employed individuals, the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) introduced LINDUNG Kendiri, also known as the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme. The scheme provides social security protection against work-related accidents, occupational diseases, and death arising from self-employment activities, giving contributors and their families greater financial security.
What Is LINDUNG Kendiri?
LINDUNG Kendiri is a PERKESO initiative implemented under the Self-Employment Social Security Act 2017 (Act 789).
The scheme was introduced on 1 June 2017 and was initially compulsory for individuals working in the Passenger Transportation Sector, including taxi, bus, and e-hailing drivers. From 1 January 2020, PERKESO expanded the scheme to cover 20 self-employment sectors, allowing more Malaysians working outside the formal employment sector to enjoy social security protection.
Under the scheme, protection begins from the date and time your contribution is successfully paid and recognised by PERKESO.

Faedah Hilang Upaya Kekal
