PERKESO Lindung 24 Jam Scheme
Starting from 1 June 2026, the Malaysian Government introduced the PERKESO Lindung 24 Jam Scheme (Skim Kemalangan Bukan Bencana Kerja).
This initiative provides 24-hour protection to more than 9 million formal sector employees against accidents that occur outside working hours, including during public holidays and rest days.
Previously, PERKESO protection only covered:
-
Occupational diseases
-
Accidents while travelling to and from work
With PERKESO Lindung 24 Jam, employees can now enjoy broader protection beyond working hours.
One common question remains:
How much will be deducted from your monthly salary for this additional protection?

PERKESO Lindung 24 Jam Contribution Rates
To minimise the financial impact on employees, the contribution rate will be implemented gradually in phases.
The contribution structure is as follows:
Phase 1 (Year 1 & Year 2)
0.75% of the employee's monthly salary
Phase 2 (Year 3 to Year 5)
1.00% of the employee's monthly salary
Phase 3 (Year 6 onwards)
1.25% of the employee's monthly salary
Unlike the existing Employment Injury Scheme, contributions for the PERKESO Lindung 24 Jam Scheme are fully paid by employees.
This means:
-
100% employee contribution
-
No employer contribution
-
Employers are responsible only for deducting and remitting contributions to PERKESO

However, there is no need to worry.
PERKESO has introduced a salary ceiling of RM6,000 per month for contribution calculations.
This means that if your monthly salary exceeds RM6,000 (for example RM8,000), your contribution amount will still be calculated based on the RM6,000 ceiling.
Important Note
Employees with more than one formal employment do not need to contribute multiple times.
PERKESO has stated that the PERKESO Lindung 24 Jam contribution only needs to be deducted by one principal employer.
