The Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) 2025 is one of the government’s key initiatives to help Malaysians cope with the rising cost of living.

Through the MyKasih cashless system, monthly credits are channelled directly into MyKad for the purchase of essential goods.

While employers are not directly involved in the application process, they play a vital role in helping employees check eligibility, understand payment schedules, and use the benefits wisely.

MyKasih / SARA 2025 Application

The Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) 2025 is a government cashless aid program that channels assistance directly into a recipient’s MyKad via the MyKasih platform.

Unlike traditional cash transfers, this scheme provides credits that can only be used to purchase 14 essential goods at participating shops nationwide.

No application is required for employees. Eligibility is determined automatically through government databases such as Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and eKasih. Employers play a supportive role by raising awareness, guiding staff on how to use their MyKad for purchases, and ensuring workers know how to check their eligibility.

Who is Eligible for SARA 2025?

Eligibility for SARA 2025 is automatic and determined based on household income categories. Employees do not need to submit a separate application.

Households (Miskin Tegar / Miskin eKasih)

  • Must be Malaysian citizens

  • Approved under Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) 2025 in the categories of Household, Single, or Senior Citizens without partners

  • Listed as Hardcore Poor (Miskin Tegar) / Poor (Miskin) in the eKasih database under the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU).

STR 2025 Recipients: Households and Senior Citizens Without Partners

  • Must be Malaysian citizens

  • Approved under STR 2025 in the Household or Senior Citizen (no partner) categories.

Single Individuals (21–59 years old)

  • Eligible if approved under STR 2025.

For lower-income employees (B40), this assistance offers critical relief to manage rising living costs. By reducing financial stress, it indirectly supports better focus, well-being, and productivity in the workplace.

SARA 2025: One-Off RM100 Cash Assistance

Beyond the monthly SARA credits, the Prime Minister announced an additional RM100 one-off aid for all Malaysians aged 18 and above, credited directly on 31 August 2025.

This credit can only be used between 31 August and 31 December 2025 for essential purchases. Any balance left after this date will be withdrawn and redirected to vulnerable groups through other government programs to be announced later.

Every eligible individual receives RM100, while the total amount for a household depends on the number of family members aged 18 and above.

Example: A husband and wife with two adult children (all above 18) will receive RM100 × 3 = RM300 in total.

This one-off assistance complements the monthly SARA support and provides extra relief during the year-end period when household expenses typically increase.
