
These Are the Ministries and Agencies That Issue Approval Letters

Hire NowStarting June 8, the police will only accept approval letters provided by six ministries and certain agencies to let workers pass through roadblocks.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani stated the approval letter was the proof needed to allow workers to travel back and forth from their workplace.
Ministries and agencies issuing approval letters
In a statement, he reminded the public to submit the approval letters issued by the listed minister or agencies when going through the roadblocks. He added that the police would take action on those who fail to show the letter or found using a fake letter under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
Acryl Sani said the ministries included in the list were:

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) for the manufacturing and related services sector, and
-
The Ministry of Transport (MoT) for the public transport and essential goods sector.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI) will only provide approval letters to smallholders in the agricultural, fisheries, livestock, plantation and commodity sector.
Those with Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) licences will need approval letters from MITI.
Rubber industry
The Malaysian Rubber Board (LGM) licence holders such as estates, smallholders, rubber traders, nurseries and rubber manufacturers will require approval letters from Plantation Industries and Commodities Ministry or LGM.
For rubber products manufacturers, they will need approval letters from MITI.
Agencies under the Home Ministry
The police will also accept all approval letters provided by agencies under the Home Ministry, such as:
- National Registration Department,
- The People's Volunteer Corps or Rela, and
- Immigration Department.
Ensure your approval letter is not outdated.
Legal sector
The Prime Minister's Department's Legal Affairs Division through MITI would issue approval letters for operations of legal firms with a 20% workforce.
Legal practitioners who need to attend court to represent their clients in new cases (Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code) need to show printed documents or the legal firm's letter at the roadblock.
Other sectors
The Communications and Multimedia Ministry would issue the approval letters for the telecommunications, media, post, courier and broadcast services sector.
As for financial institutions insurance and stock trading, Bank Negara Malaysia and Securities Commission would issue the approval letters.
The local authorities would provide approval letters for petty traders, hawkers and food truck operators.
MITI would manage the issuance of business licence for strata, solid waste and sanitation management.
Self-employed workers such as plumbers, traders and maintenance workers must obtain one-off travel permits from the police from June 1 until June 14.

The Inspector-General said that the police would also provide travel permits to those qualified for interstate and inter-district travel, including emergencies, self-employment and funeral arrangements.
Acryl Sani added that the police would approve one-off applications for two to three days for employees in sectors that are not allowed to operate but who need to go to their workplace for particular reasons.
For example, a worker who needs to prepare documents, invoices and salary payments must show their employer's approval letter as proof.
According to him, the approval documents need to be dated June 1, 2021. The police will order those without legal documents or possess expired or outdated letters (letters issued before June 1, 2021) to turn back.
