Hire NowMalaysia's Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has consolidated Monthly Tax Deduction (Potongan Cukai Bulanan, or PCB) processing into a single system: e-PCB Plus. This replaced the three previous systems — e-PCB, e-CP39, and e-Data PCB — which are now closed for new submissions. If your company hasn't already made the switch, this isn't a "get ready for later" situation anymore — it's the system you should be using today.
What Is the e-PCB Plus System?
e-PCB Plus integrates all PCB-related services into a single platform accessible through the MyTax Portal, using each user's Tax Identification Number (TIN) linked to their MyTax ID. Rather than juggling separate logins and processes across e-PCB, e-CP39, and e-Data PCB, employers now manage PCB calculation, submission, and payment in one place.
What Happened to the Old Systems? A Timeline
- 24 September 2024 — Phase 1 of the transition began, covering registration of employer, employer representative, and PCB administrator roles on MyTax.
- 15 January 2025 — The deadline for employers still using e-PCB, e-Data PCB, or e-CP39 to submit all current and backdated MTD data and payments.
- 16 January 2025 onward — The old systems stopped accepting new submissions. They remain accessible only for viewing past PCB information and records.
- February 2025 onward — e-PCB Plus became the fully operational, sole platform for PCB submission and payment, and it has remained so since.
If your business hasn't registered or transitioned yet, you're not early — you're overdue, and it's worth prioritising immediately rather than treating it as a future task.
Benefits of e-PCB Plus
- Unified platform: one system instead of three, simplifying the overall process and user experience.
- Efficiency: centralised, automated administration of PCB data saves time compared to managing multiple separate systems.
- Accuracy: the system includes real-time validation features that help catch errors before submission, improving overall compliance.
Setting Up Your Employer Account
If you haven't already, here's what needs to be in place:
- Confirm your PCB Administrator role on MyTax. Log in under the Employer or Employer Representative role, go to your Profile, and use the "MTD Administrator" section to assign whoever in your company is responsible for PCB submissions.
- Verify employee data accuracy. Every employee's name, TIN, and identity number (IC or passport) must be correct and current — mismatched or incomplete data will cause PCB processing to fail, which is one of the most common issues employers run into after switching over.
- Familiarise your payroll or finance team with the new interface, particularly if they were used to the older e-Data PCB file upload process — the workflow inside MyTax differs enough to warrant a proper walkthrough rather than assuming it works the same way.
For the calculation side specifically — how PCB amounts are actually determined — see our guides on How to Pay PCB For Employees and PCB Deduction in Malaysia: Calculation, Rates & Employer Guide.
What About TIN Registration?
Every individual and entity registered with LHDN needs a Tax Identification Number (TIN) — a unique identifier, comprising a TIN code and a set of numbers, used to track taxpayers and manage tax obligations. For Malaysian citizens and permanent residents aged 18 and above, TIN registration is now handled automatically. Individual TIN applications for those who need to register directly are submitted online through the e-Register application on the MyTax Portal. For the full breakdown of what a TIN is and how to get one, see our guide: Tax Identification Number (TIN) in Malaysia: What It Is and How to Get Yours.
How to Check a TIN
Employees and employers can confirm a TIN through:
- The MyTax Portal Malaysia.
- The Contact Centre — 03-8911 1000 (or 603-8911 1100 if calling from abroad).
- Any local HASiL (LHDN) office.
