Hire NowThe government just revised the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) quota from Singapore to Malaysia. According to the Ministry of Transport's (MOT) post on Facebook, there will be a full reopening of the sale of bus and flight tickets for both land and air travel.
New VTL arrangement effective immediately
Though this arrangement is effective immediately for air VTL travel, the land VTL travel will only have full capacity seats starting from February 22 onwards.
This VTL arrangement is based on the Immigration Department's (JIM) and Ministry of Health's (MOH) requirements. Based on the Expatriate Services Division's (ESD) latest statement, the VTL applies to the following active Long-Term Pass holders in this country:
-
Residence Pass-Talent (RP-T) and their dependant(s)
-
Employment Pass (Category EP I, II, and III)
-
Professional Visit Pass (PVP)
-
Dependant Pass to expatriates for all categories
-
Long-term Social Visit Pass (LT-SVP) to expatriate for all categories
-
Foreign Maid to expatriates for all categories
This revision comes after a 50% drop in ticket quotas for both bus and aircraft capacity.
Latest measures upon entering Malaysia and Singapore
When entering Malaysia, long-term pass holders must check that their pass is still valid.
According to the ESD, those planning to enter Malaysia to acquire a long-term pass endorsement (new approved application) are told not to apply for this programme as they will be unable to complete the pass endorsement and will need to leave and return to Malaysia using standard travel procedures.
Meanwhile, Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry has issued an updated set of measures for VTL (Land) visitors entering the country:

VTL between Malaysia and Brunei
In a similar vein, following a recent discussion involving the Prime Minister, Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, and Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the two countries have agreed to adopt an air VTL.
Recognising that Brunei is Malaysia's sixth-largest commercial partner in ASEAN, and Malaysia is Brunei's fourth-largest trading partner, the Prime Minister's Office stated that this VTL intends to boost collaboration for both nations' economic recovery.
With as many as 25,000 Malaysians in Brunei, including businessmen, professionals, students, and others, the Prime Minister expressed his hope via a Facebook post that Malaysian businessmen proceed to be a pioneer in trade relations for the sake of economic success and giving profit to both parties.
The two talked about the VTL's implementation and the mutual recognition of BruHealth and MySejahtera digital vaccination certificates as part of the overall discussion.
