How to Renew SSM Online in 2026 (Step-by-Step Guide)

For business owners in Malaysia, renewing your SSM registration is not something you can put off. Once your registration lapses, your business is no longer recognised under the law and that can cause serious problems down the line.

The good news is that you no longer need to visit an SSM office to get this done. SSM now has an official online portal called SSM4U that makes the whole process faster and more convenient.

This guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

What Exactly is "Renew SSM"?

When you registered your business, SSM gave it an expiry date. Renew SSM simply means you're extending that registration so your business stays active and legally recognised.

Think of it like renewing your road tax. You have to do it before it expires, or there'll be consequences. Same idea here.

Before SSM4U came along, you had to physically go to an SSM office. Now you can do most of it online, which is a huge time saver especially if you're running a small business solo.

What Can You Do on SSM4U?

SSM4U isn't just for renewing your business. It's basically a one-stop hub for everything SSM-related. Here's what's available:

EzBiz Online is the main one most people use. You can register a new business, renew it, or close it down if needed. Works for sole proprietorships and partnerships.
MyCoID is where you go if your business is a Sdn Bhd. You can incorporate a company and manage all the corporate details online.
MyLLP is for those running a Perkongsian Liabiliti Terhad (PLT). You can register, manage, and submit your annual declarations here.
MBRS (mPortal) is where companies submit their Annual Returns and Financial Statements. Quite important if you're running a proper company.
e-BOS handles Beneficial Ownership information. Basically who actually owns and controls the business behind the scenes.
XCESS lets you purchase business profile information or check someone's involvement in a company.
DCTC Reader & Checker is for verifying SSM documents. If someone hands you an SSM document and you want to make sure it's genuine, use this.
e-Search lets you look up the SSM BizTrust QR code for any business. Useful before dealing with someone you don't fully trust yet.
e-COMTRAC is where you register for SSM training programs and courses run by their academy.

How to Renew SSM Online, Step by Step

Step 1: Get Into the Portal

Before anything else, you need to be able to log into SSM4U. There are two situations here depending on whether you've used EzBiz Online before.

If you already have an EzBiz Online account (existing user):

Your data has already been moved over to SSM4U automatically. But here's the thing: your old EzBiz username and password won't work on SSM4U. You need to set a new password first.

Go to https://www.ssm4u.com.my
Click Login
Click Forgot Password
Fill in your ID Type (usually MyKad), your IC number, and your full name
Click Submit
SSM will send a password reset link to your registered email. Check your inbox and follow the link.

Once you've set a new password, you're good to go. Use your email address, not your old username, to log in from now on.

If you've never used EzBiz Online before (new user):

You'll need to create a fresh account.

Go to https://www.ssm4u.com.my
Click Register
Fill in all the required details. Make sure you use a real, permanent email address. Temporary ones like Yopmail won't be accepted.
Click Proceed, then complete the rest of the form
Tick the declaration box at the bottom and click Register
Check your email for a verification link
Click that link to activate your account
You'll get one more email confirming that registration is complete

That's it. Your account is ready.

Step 2: Verify Your Identity (Become a Verified User)

This is a step a lot of people miss and then wonder why they can't do anything on the portal.

To actually transact on SSM4U, meaning to renew your business, register changes, and so on, your account needs to be verified. An unverified account can log in but can't do much.

You'll know you're unverified if you see this message: "You are unverified users. Kindly visit nearest SSM counter for verification purposes."

Here's how to fix that:

Option A via e-KYC: Download the SSM4U mobile app, log in, and follow the face scan and IC scan instructions. It's the faster option if the app is available for your device.

Option B via kaunter: Bring your MyKad to any SSM office near you. They'll do a biometric verification on the spot. It doesn't take long, and once it's done, your account status will be updated to Verified User. You can also use a Kiosk TapIt if there's one near you. Same process, no need to queue at the counter.

Step 3: Log In and Renew Your Business

Once you're a verified user, renewing your SSM is pretty simple.

Log in to SSM4U at https://www.ssm4u.com.my
Click on EzBiz Online
Look for your business and select Renew
Check that all your business details are correct
Pay the renewal fee
Download or print your renewed Sijil Perakuan Pendaftaran

That's your renewal done.

How Much Does It Cost to Renew SSM?

The fee depends on what type of business you have:

Type of Business	Fee
Sole proprietorship using your own name as per IC	RM30.00
Sole proprietorship or partnership using a trade name	RM60.00
Branch registration	RM5.00 per branch
Business information printout	RM10.00

Payment is done online through FPX or other available payment methods on the portal.

What If Your Email Address is Wrong?

If you registered with the wrong email and you're not receiving anything from SSM, here's how to fix it:

Go to https://www.ssm4u.com.my
Click Help
Select "I have registered but I can't login to SSM4U"
Select "I entered an incorrect email address during registration, what do I do?"
Click Change Email
Fill in your ID Type, IC number, full name, and password
Click Find
Enter your correct email in the New Email field
Click Submit
You'll see a message saying "Please check your email to proceed next process"
Check your new inbox and click the verification link
Done. Your email is updated and you can now log in properly.

What If Your SSM Has Been Expired for More Than a Year?

You can only renew your SSM up to 12 months after it expires. Once that window passes, the option to renew is completely gone.

So what can you do? Register a brand new business using your old business name. SSM will first check if the name is still available. If nobody else has taken it, you can use the same name again but you'll get a brand new registration number. Your old one is gone for good.

If you need proof that you previously had a registered business, some banks or agencies do ask for this, you can buy a surat pengesahan pendaftaran perniagaan (surat reregister) for RM10.00. This letter acts as a supporting document. One thing to note though, this letter can only be purchased at an SSM kaunter. You can't get it online.

How to Update Wrong Info in Your SSM4U Profile

If you notice something incorrect in your profile, wrong phone number, address, and so on, you can update most things yourself:

Log in to SSM4U
Click your username at the top right
Select View Profile
Click Edit User Profile
Make your changes and click Submit

Just note that your Name, ID Type, IC Number, and Citizenship cannot be changed online. For those, you'll need to visit an SSM kaunter directly.

FAQs

Can I use my old EzBiz username and password on SSM4U?

Nope. You need to reset your password through Forgot Password. Your login will now use your email address instead of your old username.

I never registered on SSM4U but my data is already there. Why?

SSM moved everyone over. Starting from 10 May 2026, all active EzBiz Online profiles were automatically migrated to SSM4U. So if you had an EzBiz account, you're already in the system.

I forgot which email I registered with. How do I find out?

Use the Check Registration Status feature at https://ssm4u.com.my/registrationStatus20. Or just head to the nearest SSM kaunter with your IC and they can look it up for you.

Can I have two SSM4U accounts?

No. SSM only allows one account per person. One IC number, one email. That's it.

If I'm a Verified User, can I access other SSM systems too?

Yes! Once you're verified, you get access to everything inside SSM4U including EzBiz, MyCoID, MyLLP, MBRS, all of it.
