As 2022 is nearing its end, business leaders are beginning to prepare for the start of 2023 by focusing on business goals that will lead to the company's success. From expanding online to enhancing company culture, employers must leverage their past experiences to set goals and expectations to keep the organization thriving in Quarter 1 and beyond.

Although employees who take extended lunch breaks can irritate supervisors, if problems are not resolved promptly, they can negatively impact company morale. Coworkers may regard these rule-breakers as operating above the law, which may effectively alienate both parties.

Studies have shown that team leaders or managers typically spend about 3 hours per week creating work schedules, translating to about 20% of a manager’s time at a company. The task can become even more challenging when you have a combination of part-time and full-time workers.

Handling underperformers on the team may be one of the most challenging and time-consuming responsibilities for HR leaders. It’s no fun spending huge amounts of time figuring out how to get demotivated employees to be more engaged and perform better at work. And it’s equally challenging to have hard truth conversations with employees experiencing a mismatch between their skills and the new demands on the job.

As the year comes to a close, HR leaders feel extremely exhausted. It's easy to overlook that People teams, too, get overwhelmed and overworked, from making preparations for open enrollment and surviving budget season to taking care of everyone else's burnout.

Quiet quitting is when employees do the minimum necessary at work, refusing to do anything beyond their responsibilities. This is commonly motivated by the perception that work-life balance should be prioritised. This trend has arguably grown in popularity in recent years due to the pandemic.
